It’s a fact of life. You wake up in the morning, go to work, come home, and then end the day by going to bed. In between all that, you have a bathroom stop in order to freshen up and prepare for your next big day. But it’s not just any bathroom; here you live or work–it’s your personal space. You spend enough time there as it is so why not make it more enjoyable?

1) Upgrade your vanity: Swap out old brass faucets for new brushed nickel ones, add some new fixtures such as towel bars or a soap dish for an updated look without spending too much money.

2. Add some color: This is your time to shine and show your unique personality. Try to find something colorful that goes with the general scheme of the bathroom. Or you could go the bold route and invest in a colorful cabinet.

3) Make it trendy: Make sure everything you place in there is up-to-date. Nothing says “this bathroom was last renovated in 1989” more than some outdated fixtures. Even replacing a trash can will make your room look more modern and refreshing.

4) Add plants: They are great at removing harmful chemicals from the air using photosynthesis. They also add an earthy feel to your room, making it the perfect place to relax after a long day at work or school.

5) Update your lighting: It’s easy to make your space look great, but if you want to make it look great and feel great, upgrade your lighting. The best way to do this is by installing recessed lights that don’t require the use of a bulb. They will make any room look instantly more inviting and brighter.

6) Have a sign on the door: This is another useful finishing touch that will give your bathroom even more character…and it’s so simple! Hang a “keep out” sign on the door so as not to disturb others who may enter.

For a few years now, we have been talking about the wonders of Barnwood in bathrooms and storage spaces. The sheer beauty of this wood has been lauded repeatedly, but it seems that these natural treasures are actually much more than mere designs. With their unique variations in color, widths, and textures, Barnwood makes for a perfect accent for even the most minimalist bathroom vanity.

Barnwood as a natural resource
Barnwood is primarily tree-growing material, which means that it is harvested from real trees grown for profit. This means that no trees are harmed during the harvesting process.

What about utility?

The pure white variety of Barnwood is well suited for bathroom decor purposes because it does not stain the water in tubs or sinks. It also maintains its color over time and does not get discolored from exposure to bleach or harsh cleaners. It is a perfect option for small spaces since it takes up minimal space and can be left in place indefinitely (provided you do not get bored with it).

How to care for your Barnwood Vanity?

Barnwood can be kept clean with a standard cleaning agent. Be sure to avoid using harsh chemicals and abrasive products as they can wreak havoc on the texture of the wood. The best way to clean and maintain it is simple soap and water.

Title:13 Smart Tricks of How to Improve Barnwood Bathroom Vanity

For a few years now, we have been talking about the wonders of Barnwood in bathrooms and storage spaces. The sheer beauty of this wood has been lauded repeatedly, but it seems that these natural treasures are actually much more than mere designs. With their unique variations in color, widths, and textures, Barnwood makes for a perfect accent for even the most minimalist bathroom vanity.

Q: How to Make Barnwood Bathroom Vanity?

A: The first step to making your own Barnwood vanity is selecting the right lumber. The best place to look for it is your local home improvement store. You can also purchase it from a lumber supply store online or from barns in nearby areas. If the goal is to recreate a new storage solution, look for boards that are roughly 30″ x 48″. If, on the other hand, you plan on using these pieces of wood as a decorative element, then look for smaller pieces that can be cut into shorter boards.

The next step is cutting down the wood and sanding all sides until they are flat and smooth.
The next step is to stain or paint the wood. Barnwood comes in a variety of colors, but it is up to you what color you want your vanity to be.

The next step is attaching the board to the wall and installing plumbing and electrical fixtures. You can install a sink, faucet, and drain pipes as well as any electrical outlets. You may need a little help from an expert if you are not familiar with plumbing and electrical work.

Detailed Instructions:

  • Step 1: Gather materials:
    1. To start, you will need to gather the items shown below. The total cost of these materials was less than $600.00 but the best part is that a lot of it was found on Craigslist or at garage sales!
    • Bathroom Vanity Cabinet (40″ x 15″ x 30-1/2″) – Wood Barn Door – $50
    • Subway Tile (12″, 12″, 6″) $49.
    2. Make sure to wear safety glasses, gloves, and a dust mask during this project.
    3. You will also need a pencil, tape measure and level, and a drill with a 1/2 inch bit.
    4. For the plumbing and electrical work you will need help from an expert or at least the skills of one – the cheapest option is to go to the local Home Depot and get one of those home repair kits for about $20 that has all of the different fittings for bathroom plumbing and electrical work.
  • Step 2: Determine what type of wood you are working with
Note: The wood on this project is called Barnwood which is basically old wood that has been reclaimed from barns and repurposed into a variety of uses.
    • In this case, it was comprised of old poplar boards that were generally in good shape but had a lot of imperfections (nails, knots, etc.).
    • It is important to understand the type of wood that you are working with as well as what can be done to minimize imperfections. In our case we had boards with a few large knots so I removed those pieces and sliced them into smaller pieces at the miter saw in order to make the most out of our board feet.
  • Step 3: Cut the Barnwood boards
    • You will need to measure and mark all of the pieces of wood before cutting them at the miter saw. The diagram below shows all of the pieces that we cut. Since there is a lot going on in this diagram I have also added a legend to show which measurement corresponds with which piece.
  • Step 4: Sand and Stain/Paint All Pieces
    • Sanding and staining is probably one of the most important parts of this project. In order to get those unique shades, textures, and grains you want to start off by sanding all surfaces until they are completely smooth using at least 60 grit sandpaper (120 grit for large surfaces such as tabletops).
  • Step 5: Install the Barnwood
We installed the wood onto a wood vanity base using a large 1×4 that had been ripped down to about 2 feet in length.Tools:
    1. Sawzall
    2. Drill and assortment of drill bits, including T-Slots, Phillips, and flathead inserts
    3. Hammer and handpiece for 1″ holes
  • Step 6: Install Faucet, Sink, and Drain Plumbing
    • Install one double sink set up with the drain plumbing shown below: Plumbing Diagram • Using plastic hangers start to attach each board to your vanity base in order to build it up gradually.

Q: How Many Times a Year Should I Wax or Wax the Barnwood?

A: Depending upon how often you use the vanity, you may want to wax it more often. For us, it was enough to just wax the wood once a year.
A: Barnwood has a very short growth cycle so it wouldn’t be difficult to see where your piece of wood came from. They can also be purchased in bundles which is ideal if you have a large project on your hands.

Q: How Much Cost for the Barnwood Vanity?

A: The cost of vanity can vary depending upon the size that you would like to purchase as well as the type of wood that you choose. If you want to make your own vanity using barn wood, it will depend on the amount of wood that you use, if any, the cost of hardware and whether or not you are hiring a contractor or doing all of the work yourself.

Q: What Products Can be used to Restore Barnwood Vanity?

A: Of all the products that we use in our bathroom, the one that I have had the best experience with is Minwax Wood Finish Stain and Topcoat. I have also used Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish which works equally well. The product is easy to apply as long as you follow their instructions closely and complete each step in a timely manner. A good idea would be to put off finishing your project till the end when you can look at it as a whole before putting on your final finish.

Q: What is the difference between Barnwood and Other Wood?

A: There are many different types of wood in the world. Some of them are more common than others. Here is a list of some common types of wood in order to help you decide on which type you want to use:
Barnwood is a type of reclaimed wood that has been used by barns and farmers as a source of heat and light. This is why it has cracks in it due to weather damage, but also gives it an aged look with its large knots. It comes in different colors such as white, brown, black, red, orange, and grey.

Q; Where to Find the Wall Sconces?

A: You can find wall sconces from bathroom vanities to replace your old, drab lights. The best thing about these lights is that they match with any type of wood to give your bathroom a warm and cozy glow. And yes, you can install them by yourself. Take time to gather all the tools and materials needed and start with the installation of wall sconces.

Q: Why Should We Install Tub and Shower Faucet?

A: If you want to renovate your bathroom, you can replace the old faucet in order to make it look new. The best faucet you can install is a tub and shower combination because it performs the two actions separately. You can turn on the shower, but not the bathtub faucet and vice versa. This will give your bathroom a modern look and allow you to easily control water pressure for each one.

Q: When Should I Change My Faucet?

A: Over time, your faucet will develop problems that will cause you stress and inconvenience. To avoid this, you should change it if any of the following happens:
• You start feeling insecure about the number of times you turn it on and off in a day.
• It starts to leak even when closed properly. This can lead to water damage and mold in your bathroom.
• You are ready for a change as part of an overall renovation project at home. Your faucet can be a cheap starting point for this project.

Q: Who Can I Hire to Install the Shower Faucet?

A: Depending on your budget, you can hire a professional or do the job yourself. If you are on a low budget, you can purchase your faucet and have it professionally installed at a hardware store. Here is a list of steps to install your shower faucet:
1. Turn off the water supply valves that provide water to the shower and bathtub. Drain the water from pipes connected to shower head and tub spout.
2. Shut down the power supply for bathroom vanity lights, exhaust or recirculating fans, and whirlpools if you have any in your bathroom.
